  The winning entries from the Singapore Student Literary Award 2001 have been compiled into a book - Seedlings.

  In the book are the short stories which won the 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes for two categories:

a) Secondary School Category

  1st Prize: "That Really Changed My Perspective Of Things" by LIM Jianwei, Geoffrey (Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)

  2nd Prize: "It's Poisoning Down" by PAN Jiayi, Jobeth (Tanjong Katong Girls'  School)

  3rd Prize: "Infamy" by SIM Si Ling, Serena (Nanyang Girls' School)

b) Pre-University Category

  1st Prize: "Mother And Child" by PEK Lishi, Jane (Hwa Chong Junior College)

  2nd Prize: [Tell Me] by Marica VanderStraaten (Pioneer Junior College)

  The Literary Award also showcases winning poetry entries in the following category:

a) Pre-University Category - Poetry

  1st Prize: "Casualties Of The Efficient World" (Singapore's bilingual policy and the Speak Mandarin Campaign) by TENG Qian Xi (Hwa Chong Junior College)

  2nd Prize: "Under A September Sky" by PEK Lishi, Jane (Hwa Chong Junior College)

  3rd Prize: "Legacy" by Joel KOH (Anglo-Chinese Junior College)

  The Award is organised by the Hwa Chong Junior College Alumni. For the Short Story category, Alvin Pang, Daren Shiau and Kirpal Singh were the judges. Alfian bin Sa'at, Alvin Pang and Daren Shiau judged the Poetry entries.

  Seedlings, which is 63 pages thick, is available at Kinokuniya and other good bookstores at a retail price of S$12.
