Acting Workshop

Designed and supervised by Mr Robert Draffin*, this 3-day workshop caters to actors with some basic experience. It focuses on training exercises that develop vocal and physical fluency.

This workshop also gives a small sample of the work that makes up part of the first year Theatre Training & Research Programme (TTRP) curriculum.

They include the following principles:

- working from impulse

- working organically

- working from a meditative base

- working with JO HA KYU

- developing strong work practices

Certificate:  A Certificate of participation will be awarded upon completion of the course, subject to satisfactory performance and attendance. In addition, participants get to observe one TTRP Acting class.

*Mr Robert Draffin is Teacher of Acting in Practice Performing Arts School's Theatre Training & Research Programme.

For 25 years, Mr Draffin has been a director, actor, dramaturg, writer, choreographer, and teacher in theatre, with his last appointment being as Acting Teacher at Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne, Australia.

He has studied with the Odin Teatret, the Laban Institute of Movement and leading performers and teachers in Indonesia. He has directed traditional and contemporary theatre, devised performances and written and adapted scripts that have been performed internationally. Despite mainstream exposure, his primary interest is in alternative and experimental theatre, and in research into areas where performance training and practice have evolved and challenged each other.
