       Primary One 2002 registration starts

Click logo to start tour

Mdm Kang's Kitchen Chilli Crab

Registration of students for admission into Primary One classes for 2002 will be carried out from 3 July to 29 August 2001.

The dates for the different phases are given HERE!. All primary and full schools will be open for registration from 8am - 11am and 2.30pm - 4.30pm during the registration period.

Children born between 2 January 1995 and 1 January 1996 (both dates inclusive) may be registered for Primary One classes in 2002. Children born between 2 January 1993 and 1 January 1995 (both dates inclusive), who have not previously been registered for Primary One classes, may also be registered for admission to school in 2002

Parents registering their children under Phase 1 are not required to register at the school as applications will be done through the older sibling in the school. For the registration of a child under the rest of the phases [Phase 2A(1) to 2C Supplementary], this is to be done at the school of choice by the parent or by a person authorised by the parent in writing.

Children who are neither Singapore Citizens nor Singapore Permanent Residents can approach the schools directly for registration under Phase 3 on Wednesday 29 August 2001.

Singaporeans overseas who wish to register their children for Primary One can obtain the application form and a copy of the notes on the registration procedure from the Overseas Missions, Embassies, Singapore Clubs and Associations. These can also be found on the MOE Internet website at www.moe.edu.sg

Children will be allocated places in the school according to the priority spelt out in the Registration Schedule. Balloting will be conducted should the number of applications exceed the number of vacancies in any phase.

At the end of Phase 2A(2), 50% of the remaining places in each school will be allocated for Phase 2B registrants in the school and the other 50% for Phase 2C registrants. If the number of qualifying applicants in Phase 2B exceeds the 50% cap, successful applicants will be determined first by proximity of residence to the school and then by ballot. In the event that the allocated places for Phase 2B is not used up, the remaining vacancies will be carried forward to Phase 2C.

Children who are unsuccessful in obtaining a Primary One place in a school of their choice at the end of Phase 2C Supplementary of the registration exercise will be posted by the Ministry of Education to schools near their homes which still have vacancies. Alternatively, they can participate in Phase 3. Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents will be given priority over foreign students in Phase 3.

The China Beijing Opera

With English & Chinese subtitles

The Beijing Opera Troupe will radically alter any preconceived notions that the artform is meant for Chinese- speaking grandads and grandmas. Instead, this highly-acclaimed troupe has modernised China's age-old theatrical art with an adrenaline rush that captivates audiences from all walks of life, young or old.

The performance in Singapore will highlight six of the great Chinese classics, as well as a full-length feature of Romance of the Three Kingdoms. To fully appreciate the vibrant performance, pay attention to the remarkable acrobatics, face painting and the art of the glance (eye movements).
