In his first media interview, new EDB chief TEO Ming Kian said that EDB would target companies and even startups in their plans to establish Singapore as a compelling manufacturing location in the world. Acupuncturists can apply to be registered from today. They have until 8 March 2001 to do so. The result of their application will be posted to them by 7 April 2001, the Health Ministry said in a press statement on Tuesday. Under the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Act passed in November 2000, all acupuncturists have to be registered by 1 Jan 2002. |

Los Angeles: Sexual content on American television has risen sharply since 1997, showing up in two of every three programmes during the past TV season, according to a study released on Tuesday. Research conducted for the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation found sexual content in 68% of the 1999-2000 shows studied, up from 56% during the 1997-98 season. The US television season runs from September to the following May. |
