Why is there a surge of interest in the novel genre amongst young Malay writers? The grappling with identity crisis, alienation by technology, the fervour of ideology - all these and more can only be adequately expressed through the depth and expanse of the novel. Has the novel become the new voice of the Malay community in Singapore? Dr Othman Puteh, Peter Augustine Goh and Anuar Othman will discuss the above. Prominent local Malay writer Isa Kamari chairs.
