National Songs For National Day  continued

   Continued from FrontPage

Released in major music stores on 4 Aug 2000, the collection will make it possible for every Singaporean to own a piece of Singapore music which was composed, arranged and performed by our very own local musical talents.  As we celebrate Singapore's 35th year of independence, it is also time to relive the Singapore's Story through the two video clips, and take pride in what we have achieved so far.

The music videos of evergreen National songs - Count on me, Singapore, We are Singapore, Stand up for Singapore, One People One Nation One Singapore as well as other favourite Singapore songs, such as Home, Together and Shine On Me, have always enjoyed popular demand. This is evident in the month of August where both public and private organisations come together to commemorate our nation's birthday. Such videos are also frequently used in many other celebratory occasions, such as school and grassroots events. The timely introduction of Singapore One Voice will end the need to collate the various sound tracks from various sources.

Three of the National songs - Count on me, Singapore, We are Singapore, and Stand up for Singapore, have taken on a brand new feel and look this year. In the latest revamp by the Ministry of Information and The Arts, the songs are given a new beat and a pop tempo for greater mass appeal.  Each song now has a distinctive theme for its accompanying music video, and "star appeal". These newly arranged National Songs have hit the national airwaves since July and will be seen in the lead up to National Day.

Count on Me Singapore showcases Singaporeans who have accomplished in their respective areas. These "personality" singers, from such diverse fields as entertainment, business, community work or professions, are inspirations for younger Singaporeans to dare to achieve their dreams and fulfill their ambitions. Hear out Zoe Tay, Dick Lee, Jennie Chua, Gerald Ee, Ridzwan  Dzafir, R Sinnakaruppan and Chitra Rajaram as they belt out the patriotic song with gusto.

We are Singapore brings together established local musicians from different fields to give a stirring concert performance. Talented Jacintha Abisheganaden and Yee Ee Ping show how jazz and classic soprano could fused together in perfect harmony as they belt out the song, accompanied by well-known Jeremy Montario on the keyboard. The music video for We are Singapore also offers a peep down memory lane amidst the panoramic Singapore's skyline and pictures of people expressing their National Day joy.

In a marked departure from the current soundtrack, Stand Up for Singapore, takes on a pop and hip beat, with the voices of up and coming musical talents. With a strong youth appeal, the singers are Stella Ng, Celeste Chong, Caleb Goh and Ric Low. The video captures our lifestyles and aspirations, and the pride, exuberance and dynamism of Singaporeans.

Singapore One Voice, produced by the Ministry of Information and The Arts and the National Arts Council, is available in all major music stores at $12 for the VCD format and $16 for the DVD version.

Schools and public organisations can enjoy a concessionary price of $10 and $14 respectively for bulk orders of 50 copies or more of the VCD and DVD. For sales enquiries, please contact Hype Records at 375-3757.
