SAVVY - a new lifestyle magazine for those at school
|
Yes! It's
true! Another magazine has hit our streets. We are in the
midst of an economic downturn and these chaps have bravely
come out to test the waters.
|
This
time, it's a magazine for the under 20s - especially those
still at school. But, unlike Teens and Teenage magazines,
SAVVY is a bi-monthly publication. Its focus is also more
serious - the first issue bombards you with tips on how to
handle the General Paper (GP) as well as showcases excerpts
from some model essay answers.
|
The
78-page maiden January/February 2002 issue also provides a
two-page article on Studying In The USA - the first of a
series on heading overseas. Besides education matters, the
magazine has sections on health, family, and the latest in
technology.
|
SAVVY
comes in a size considerably smaller than other local
magazines - think of Reader's Digest, and you already know
how compact the magazine is.
|
But at
S$4.00 per copy, SAVVY is quite an expensive buy compared to
other available magazines with similar target readership in
the market.
|
Its
Editor-In-Chief, Catherine KHOO, invites you to come on
board in her first editorial, saying, "We're different.
Why? One, we involve you, the young readers - all the way.
Believe us, if you have always wanted to be part of the
editorial team and have skills to contribute, contact us.
We'll let you lead us with your ideas.."
|
Yes! It's
also true, the magazine involves the young - they have
student reporters from Yio Chu Kang Sec School sharing with
SAVVY readers their views on stress at school.
