GET FOR ME: Monday with the Editor

           Hallo again.

Chinese New Year is just two weeks away. Have you sent your greeting cards yet? I mean real cards made of paper, not virtual cards. It may be hip to send an e-card, but I still prefer the old fashioned greeting card in which the sender has scribbled some new year greetings. What about you? What's your preference?

Singapore has been abuzz lately with Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel craziness. Adults join long queues from as early as 5.00 am and stand in line until 2.00 pm every Thursday just to get a chance to bag a pair of Hello Kitty soft toys offered by McDonald's. In the course of this madness, tempers have frayed and behaviour unbecoming of Singaporeans has found its way out into the open. Just last week, a doctor fought with a lorry driver and several people were injured when the glass pane they had been leaning on shattered into pieces from their sheer weight.

The Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel has two weeks (or two doll designs) left in its run. The Japanese and Chinese Wedding Fashion dolls are to be offered to the public on 27 Jan and 3 Feb 2000 respectively. Let's hope everyone keeps his cool the next two Thursdays.
