The Ministry of Health will be conducting
the National Health Surveillance Survey from July 2007 to February 2008
to obtain information on the general health status and lifestyle
practices of Singaporeans. |
The results of the Survey will be used by
the Ministry to evaluate the effectiveness of the government¨s national
disease control plans, and to chart the progress towards achieving its
long-term health targets. |
Twelve thousand households have been
randomly selected to participate in the Survey. These households will
receive a letter from the Ministry by 2 July 2007 informing them of the
Survey. |
The Ministry hopes that all selected
households will give their full support and cooperation for the Survey.
Individual information collected for the Survey will be kept strictly
confidential and only aggregated data will be published. |
An independent research company, The
Research Pacific Group Pte Ltd, has been commissioned to carry out the
Survey. Interviewers from the company will don an identification tag
bearing their name, photograph and the company¨s official stamp when
conducting the Survey. They will also carry a letter of authorisation
from the Ministry. |
This is the second National Health
Surveillance Survey carried out by the Ministry of Health. The first was
conducted in 2001. |
