The School of Piano Performance
is presenting
The Prokofiev War Cycle Concert,
the one-night-only Asian premiere of Sergei Prokofiev’s emotive cycle of
three piano sonatas at the
Alliance Francaise’s AGF Theatre on Saturday 10 Jul 2004 at 8pm.
|
|
Prokofiev’s
fierce yet poignant “War Cycle” reflects his troubled days during the
Second World War and the
oppressive Stalinist regime.
|
|
The
three evocative piano sonatas, No. 6 (composed in 1940), No. 7 (1942), and No.
8 (1944), are striking in the dramatic conflict of images and emotions and are
widely acclaimed by critics to be the greatest of Prokofiev’s piano works.
