London’s
longest running comedy returns to Singapore from 18 - 28 March 2004 and
promises to have audiences rolling down the aisles with laughter!
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)
is directed by John Saunders.
|
The show performed to full houses in nine cities in the region last
year. Tim Woods
and Spirit Entertainment, together with IMG Artists, are bringing
the return
season of The
Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) to Singapore. The show, which
will be staged at the DBS Arts Centre, received
rave reviews in a sell-out season in Singapore in 2002.
|
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) is a bawdy
feast of improvisation, word fights, singing, slapstick and comical death
scenes. It condenses all of Shakespeare's 37 plays into a hilarious 97 minutes
and has been described as "the Bard without the boring bits.

A cast of three of Australia’s best comedy actors - Ezra
Bix, Tim Schwerdt
and Berynn Schwerdt - in tights and trainers, playing over 100 different
characters, will take you through The Tragedies, The
Histories, The Comedies and Poetry, no holds “bard”.
|
For
those not familiar with Shakespeare’s plays, the show is easy to understand
and a wonderful opportunity to experience the wit and brilliance of his words.
And for those who know him well, the performance will be like no other
Shakespeare plays you have ever seen before.
|
The show has been nominated for an Olivier Award for Best New Comedy and is currently
London’s longest running comedy (into its ninth year!). It has had
very successful seasons in Hong Kong, six cities in India, Malaysia, Beijing
and Sydney (closing on 15 February 2004)
