Lifelong Learning Starts from Preschools

"Lifelong Learning Starts from Preschools" Exhibition will be held from 1 Sep
00 - 3 Sep 00 at Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hall
402. This exhibition of the Singapore Learning Festival Expo highlights the key
roles that preschooling and formal school education play in promoting lifelong
learning. In line with the Ministry of Education's stand on preschool education, the "Lifelong Learning Starts from Preschools" Exhibition aims at highlighting the following to the public:
- Preschool education should be about preparing children for lifelong learning
rather than getting them ready for Primary 1.
- Preschool education should develop preschoolers' creativity, self-confidence
in communication and teamwork skills through project works.
- Parental involvement in preschool education is important in nurturing a
positive attitude towards learning.
Other solutions showcased at the exhibition include:
    SCHOOL3000
Developed by Ednovation, this web-based Digital Media Repository System
consists of a content management system, and a suite of applications for
teaching and learning. A customized version for the MOE, DMR@School, is
currently being implemented in 22 pilot schools.
CAlive (CurriculumALIVE)
On the MOE's Recommended Software List, CAlive is a series of 70 CD-ROMs for primary students based on the MOE syllabus for English, Chinese and Mathematics.
EdnoLand
EdnoLand is a 110-hour curriculum-based programme for preschoolers. EdnoLand emphasizes the acquisition of "Life-Skills" such as thinking skills,
communication skills and creativity.
EdnoLand.com
A portal to facilitate parental involvement in the education of preschoolers.
Parents of preschoolers will be able to view their own children's work in the
kindergarten computer lessons through any Internet terminals from home or work and participate with their children on the suggested activities. They can also receive personalized e-mails from their children!
