The new Thieves' Market at Sungei Road is but a pale shadow of its old self. In its heyday, the Thieves Market was a veritable fleamarket swarming with locals & tourists hunting for a bargain and hoping to find a bit of the past that they missed. Gone now are the pre-war shophouses and the crowd. What remains is perhaps a skeleton of the past - a past we can only relive in our memories.
