Food Festival officially opened at Parco Bugis Junction in the
evening of 31 Mar 2000. Yesterday, food stalls set up by various
restaurants and hotels in Singapore in the Hylam and Malay Streets
at Parco enticed large crowds with delicious food. Grand City
Restaurant's pastry, Loy Kee Chicken Rice together with Raffles
Smoked Duck were great favourites. Today, the celebration at Parco
continues and more people are expected to make their way there. The month-long festival has
highlights, such as Film al Fresco, at Fort Canning Park from 7 -
9 Apr 2000. This event features food, live performances, and
movies outdoors.
Over three evenings, you can catch six movies, such as ERIN
BROCKOVICH (starring Julia Roberts); performances by Australian
pop group FRUIT; and French CELTIC ATTITUDE, a colourful feast of
food and drinks, food demonstrations, and good old-fashioned fun. The World Gourmet
Summit will be held from 10 - 15 Apr 2000 in association with the
food festival.
