FLIGHT INFORMATION CURRENCY CONVERTER
Continued from FrontPage However, married candidates should bear in mind that the scholarship stipend is sufficient only for one person, and that the Trust takes no financial responsibility for the support of a scholar's spouse. Moreover, spouses who are not British citizens will find it very difficult to obtain permission to undertake paid work in England. The qualities which Mr Rhodes specified in the Will as forming the basis of selection are: 1. literary and scholastic ability and attainments 2. qualities of truthfulness, courage, devotion to duty, sympathy for and protection of the weak, kindliness, unselfishness and fellowship 3. exhibition of moral force of character, and of instincts to lead and to take an interest in his fellows 4. physical vigour, as shown by fondness for or success in outdoor activities. The Rhodes Scholarship will cover all fees and a stipend of 800 pounds per month will be paid to meet living expenses. An economy class air fare to and from London will be provided. Appointment to the Rhodes Scholarship is made for two years at the first instance with a possible third year if the Scholar's record at Oxford and plan of study warrant such an award. No restriction is placed upon a Rhodes Scholar's choice of studies. Both men and women are invited to apply. Copies of the Memorandum of Regulation, which includes an application form and other information may be obtained from Dr T.C. Tong, Secretary to: THE RHODES SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION COMMITTEE c/o ACS (Independent) 121 Dover Road Singapore 139650 Completed application forms must reach the Secretary not later than 15 September 2000.
