Traffic Arrangements for Annual Firewalking Festival 2007

The Annual Fire Walking Festival will be held on Monday, 29 October 2007 between 12.30am and 12noon.
About 5,000 devotees will walk in a procession from the Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple at Serangoon Road along Selegie Road , Bras Basah Road and North Bridge Road to the Sri Mariamman Temple at South Bridge Road.
Apart from the devotees, a large number of tourists and spectators are expected along the procession route and at both temples to witness the ceremony.
In order to facilitate the event, the following roads will affected:

From 8pm on 28 Oct 07 to 3pm on 29 Oct 07
a. Mohammad Ali Lane Road closed

From 12.30am to 12noon on 29 Oct 07
a. Temple Street Road closed
b. Trengganu Street Road closed
(between Temple Street and Pagoda Street )

From 12.30am to 12noon on 29 Oct 07
a. Temple Street Road closed
b. Trengganu Street Road closed
(between Temple Street and Pagoda Street )

From 10.30pm on 28 Oct 07 to 12noon on 29 Oct 07
a. Mosque Street Entrance and exit via New Bridge Road only
b. South Bridge Road Right most lane closed
(between Upper Pickering Street and Temple Street)

From 10.30pm on 28 Oct 07 to 5am on 29 Oct 07
a. Serangoon Road Right most lane closed
b. Selegie Road Right most lane closed
c. Prinsep Street Right most lane closed
d. Bras Basah Road Right most lane closed
e. North Bridge Road Right most lane closed
f. South Bridge Road Right most lane closed
(between North Bridge Road and North Canal Road)

Police expect traffic flow to be heavy, especially during the morning peak hours. We advise motorists to plan their journey in advance and expect longer travelling time.
Auxiliary police officers and marshals will be deployed at various junctions to assist and regulate traffic. Parking restriction along the peripheral roads will be strictly enforced and vehicles that are found parking indiscriminately or causing obstruction will be towed away.
