Police News Release Alert on Molester

Police would like to interview the man shown in the attached photofit to assist us in investigating seven cases of Outrage of Modesty involving young girls.
These cases were committed in the afternoons between 6 Jan 06 and 14 Mar 06 at a housing estate in the eastern part of Singapore.

In the first case, which occurred on 6 Jan 06 at a HDB block at Tampines Ave 5, a 14-year-old girl was in the lift on her way home when a Malay man in the same lift, carried his bicycle and intentionally used the handle bar to lift the victim¨s skirt. He then molested her. In 4 other cases at the Tampines area, a Malay man would use his bicycle to block the victim from leaving the lift. He would then molest them.
In two other cases which occurred on 13 and 14 Mar 06 at a HDB block at Tampines St 82 and Tampines St 81, respectively, a Malay man asked the victims, an 11-year-old and 12 year old girl to help him lift his bicycle. He would then take the opportunity to touch them inappropriately.
The description of the culprits given by the victims in all these cases seems to suggest that it is the same man who is responsible. The suspect is described to be in his 30s, of slim-build, curly hair and about 1.7m tall. All the cases occurred inside lifts and the culprit was always with a bicycle.
We would like to take this opportunity to advise the public to be alert and report anyone fitting the description behaving suspiciously. Parents of young children are also advised to educate them to be wary of strangers when in the lift.
Members of public should contact the Police emergency line 999 immediately should they spot the man shown in the photograph. Alternatively, if you have any information on the suspect, please call the Police Hotline at 1800-255-0000. Your identity will be kept strictly confidential.
