MEDIAction! 2006 |
|
MEDIAction! is an initiative by the Media
Development Authority (MDA) which creates opportunities to engage and
inspire Singaporeans aged 15-49 to discover the possibilities that the
media can offer for work, learning and play. |
It is characterised by a series of engaging
and inspiring activities held all year round to create the media buzz
and equip selected target groups with the necessary knowledge and skills
to unleash their creativity and harness the media for work, learning and
play. |
It also hopes to showcase the dynamism of
the media industry whereby individuals will consider media as a career
choice. |
Singaporeans can look forward to the
following list of exciting MEDIAction! events in June 2006: |

REEL REVOLUTION |

Introductory Seminar on June 17: 10am to

Be a youth ¡°revolutionary¡± and challenge
yourself to produce video essays on social issues in Singapore and
Asia. |
If you are aged between 15 and 35, then
you can form teams of not more than 4 members to produce these
four-minute video essays which will then be used to lead a
discussion for other youths at the "Reel Revolution Powow". |
This six-week film programme includes a
series of activities for knowledge building and skill development in
the area of visual and moving images. Register for the free

business development aspects of producing groundbreaking animation
content, the seminar presents an opportunity to learn from prominent
speakers from around the world. |

this seminar, which will be held on June 21 at the Singapore Expo.

international digital animations at this free exhibition on June 24
and 25. |
Apart from the visually exciting display
of animations, there will also be talks and workshops by
professionals in the field of digital animation. |
Organised by ACM SIGGRAPH NTU Student
Chapter, and co-organised by SIGGRAPH Singapore and People¡¯s
Association Youth Movement, this event is supported by MDA under
MEDIAction!. The animations will be screened at E2MAX at Level 9,
Cathay Cineleisure Orchard. |
Canon Digital Video Fest 2006 |

Be part of this annual event which
seeks to uncover new local talent in filmmaking. The festival
includes public screenings and workshops dedicated to imparting
digital video technology knowledge and ideas to integrate
filmmaking into our every day life. The first of these workshops
will be held at library@orchard on June 25. |

experts? Learn the tricks of the trade, create your own animations
and even take part in the monthly online competition organised by
Animagine. |
From now to November, upload your
works for voting and you stand the chance to win exciting prizes.
Finalists from each month will also qualify for a ¡°Live¡± Finale
Competition during the Asia Animation Festival in December. Sign
