At the invitation of H.E. Mr. SR Nathan,
President of Singapore, Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress of Japan
will make a state visit to the Republic of Singapore from 8 to 10 June
2006. |
|
For the past 40 years, since the
establishment of diplomatic relations in 1966, Japan and Singapore have
deepened cooperation not only in economic areas but also in political,
cultural and other areas. The two countries have now become important
partners in bilateral relationship as well as in the international
arena. |
|
The visit of Their Majesties The Emperor and
Empress will become an occasion to commemorate these 40 years of strong
partnership and further promote the friendly relations between the two
countries for the next 40 years and beyond. (For information, list of
commemorative events for 40th anniversary are attached.) |

Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress of
Japan visited the Republic of Singapore in 1970 and 1981 as Their
Imperial Highness the Crown Prince and Crown Princess. |
