Police received a call at 8.45pm on 25 Oct
05 from a man informing us that his girlfriend had sent an SMS to him to
call the police as she was in trouble. |
Police responded and made a door-to-door
search at Block 132, Jalan Bukit Merah. While outside unit #02-1322,
police officers saw a man armed with two knives seated in the living
room. They saw a handbag and a shoe, believed to belong to the
girlfriend. The man refused to open the door and there was no sign of
the woman. |
As the man was agitated, police negotiators
were called in and police strategy was to engage the man through his
relatives. We managed to persuade the man to open the door at 12.40am. |
A search of the unit uncovered the body of a
26-year-old female Chinese lying face-up in the bedroom with bruises on
her neck. She was clad in a white blouse with blue jeans. She was
pronounced dead at 12.45am. |
A 37-year-old Chinese man has been arrested.
Police have classified the case as murder. |
