I
Theatre is presenting The Magic Paintbrush - named after the book written by
playwright Brian Seward and illustrated by Francis Chua - from 26 May - 6 Jun
2004 at DBS Arts Centre.
|
The
Magic Paintbrush is an Old Chinese Folk
Tale transformed into a Musical, Magical journey for all ages.
|
The
performance is a musical treat for the whole family, where children
over the age of four can bring their parents, and older brothers and sisters,
aunties and uncles. Marvellous puppets and lively action will enthral the
youngest audience members, whilst fun songs and a witty script will entrance
grownups and older children.
|
With an
accidental wish, Tony Lee, a young student from present day
Singapore
meets a Magical Paintbrush. He is transported to a
Southern Province of China where, in a series of magical adventures, the story
of Ma Liang and his magic paintbrush is recounted.
|
Meet the
tuneful
Phoenix
who guides and helps Liang with his quest, the comical
Flower Rangers, the confused and very blur Chicken. And watch out for the
cruel Emperor and his guards!
|
Through the
fun, a clear and strong moral message about friendship, the dangers of using,
or abusing power, and the value of creativity is presented in this magical
musical show.
|
This wonderful
75-minute play, directed by Brian Seward, will be performed in English. It
features Dwayne Tan, Ernest Seah, Serena Ho, Edric Hsu, Joni Tham, Windson
Liong and Cristina Bulahan. Music is provided by Kenneth Lyen and arranged by

|
