April’s Dome Literary Readings – Home – features Singaporean and Malaysian writers reading their own works and highlights a theme that can be explored from a variety of positions: the family; clan, community or "my country and my people"; the physical house itself; the housing estate or even the HBD heartlands.

Writers to be featured in April’s readings include established or new writers in the poetry, drama and fiction circles: Charlene Rajendran and Ghulam Sarwar Yousof from Malaysia, Haresh Sharma, Chris Mooney-Singh, Augustine Kensai Chan and Ho Poh Fun (information on the writers is found below). Drop by for this literary experience!

The event will take place at Dome Café @ Kent Ridge, University Cultural Centre, from 1pm - 2pm on Friday 2 Apr 2004.

Admission is free and all are welcome.

About the writers:

kensai (Augustine Chan)

Currently a teacher, kensai graduated from the National University of Singapore, majoring in Political Science and English Literature. Poetry remains his main literary interest. His works are influenced by Pablo Neruda and Eugenio Montale. His debut anthology of poetry, Maiden, was published in 2002.

Ho Poh Fun

Poet and teacher at Raffles Junior College, her poetry works include When the Tabebuia Bloomed at Soochow Gardens and Katong and Other Poems which was commended the National Book Development Council Book Awards in 1996.
