food and fabulously happy vibe at CHIJMES latest Music Series WORLD BEATS.

From chilled reggae vibes of
Bushmen and the rhythm-hungry drummers of Wicked Aura Batacada to Soul
Ethnicity's ethno-techno movement, CHIJMES World Beats Series aims to showcase
cultural sounds from around the globe.
|

This outdoor event is staged at
the Fountain Courtyard every fortnight from 18 July to 15 August from 6pm to
9pm. Admission is free.

want more people to be educated on this genre of music - World fusion music is
a variation of the term world music, used to describe traditional music from
around the world. World
Fusion Music a
place where new cross-cultural music and dance is created by learning from the
world's great ancient tradition and especially in a multi-cultural society
like Singapore, the appreciation of this genre of music ought to be easier and

Bushmen
is a combination of determination, belief and talent that has yielded a album
of Reggae tracks filled with the enthusiasm of youth and the optimism of an
adrenalised idealism.

It
may sound strange to most that a reggae band would sprout from an eclectic
scene that is dominated by Top 40 and the international arena at large. But
for the members of Bushmen, there was a happy co-existence realized by a
common aim.

Wicked
Aura sports dreadlocks, Afros, and has a multi-ethnic line-up and an
intense passion for music, percussion ensemble. Wicked Aura captivates with
thunderous samba beats using exotic percussion instruments such as djembe
(African globlet-shaped drums) and the cuica (a hollow drum that
makes squeaky sounds when an internal stick is rubbed).

Ethnicity is a instrumental band that plays various electronic instruments
combined with some ethnic Chinese and Indian ones.

Due to the diverse and rich
backgrounds of its members, the music they produced is one that combines
modern funky chillout music with ethnic influence. From deep house and
chillout to pulsating deep groove and jazz, Soul Ethnicity's music will
provide the perfect lull over a few cool drinks and some quiet conversation.
