|
"We fully intend to bring this
sport back in 2005 in a much bigger capacity and we’re currently considering
holding it at the same time as the UIM F1 Powerboat Championship to provide an
exciting water festival as part of our efforts to ensure Singapore becomes the
water sports capital of Asia.” |

The Singapore Powerboat
Association is integral to bringing this event to Singapore. |
|
Commented Justin Lee, President of
the SPBA, “Aquabiking is a very popular sport here and although at this stage
there are limited areas where people can freely race on the water, we hope
this event will open up opportunities to race in new and exciting places and
build awareness of this very dynamic and affordable sport. We’re really
looking forward to develop the sport here further” |
|
The free trials start on Friday
12th November 15:00-17:00 hours followed by qualifying races on Saturday

at Sentosa has been picked as the perfect setting to watch this exciting
premier event, with its tropical location, outstanding scenery and excellent
views of all the action from the long stretch of beach. |
|
“We are delighted to support this
event in Singapore. In recent years, Siloso Beach has welcomed many high
profile national and international competitions including the Osim Singapore
International Triathlon (2002), the AXN Challenge - Singapore Adventure Quest
(2003) and the Singapore Biathlon (2002, 2004). |
|
"This popular playground began
pumping up the action when it unveiled a S$20million redevelopment plan last
year to introduce a host of new quality entertainment, food, beverage and
retail offerings, so this event will naturally add to the character of this
active beachfront. We’re looking forward to welcoming the international racers
to our corner of Singapore!” commented Mr Kelven Tan, Product Management
Director, Sentosa. |
|
The action packed three day event
has the full support of the Singapore Tourism Board as well as the Singapore
Sports Council. Providing enjoyable and spectacular sporting events is high on
the list of priorities for the Singapore Sports Council and this event proves
to be no exception, especially since it is the first ever event of its kind in
Asia. |

Terence Khoo, Singapore Sports
Council's Director for Sports Business explained, "We’re delighted to welcome
a major world-class sporting event to our shores. This fast-paced and exciting
