That contest in which participants
have to keep a palm of either of their hands pressed against a car for days is
back for the third year running.
|
|
The Mediacorp Radio Subaru Impreza
WRX Challenge 2004 will commence on Saturday 30 Oct 2004 at 9am at the Civic
Plaza of Ngee Ann City in Orchard Road.
|
|
Some 240 participants have to
rough it out in the open till 8pm on Wednesday 3 Nov 2004. They have to endure
the sun and hopefully not the rain for four straight days until the winner -
the one who outlasts all the others - emerges.
|
|
The rules are strict. Contestants
are allowed a five-minute break every six hours during the contest. They can
make use of it to visit the toilet and/or eat and drink in the hospitality
tent. However, they cannot communicate or have any contact with their family,
relatives or friends during the five-minute breaks. The only time they are
allowed to make contact with these people is at 7pm daily.
|
|
The participants are also not
allowed to shower, bathe or shave. And they can't use personal hygiene devices
such as tissues, wet wipes or talcum powder. To make things even more
difficult, the rules have it that participants cannot pee in their clothes!

Is all the suffering worth winning
a brand new Subaru Impreza WRX? The keen participation over the past two years
certainly tells the answer.

|
Here are the previous winners:
|
|
2002 - Mohamad Amat
(shown above)
|
|
2003 - David Gerard Felix

If you think getting through the
grueling four-day event is tough, think again. Before you can get the
'privilege' of roughing it out in the elements, you have first to qualify for
the contest by being one of the lucky callers to get through the organising
radio stations' phone lines at designated times during the qualifying period
from Monday 27 Sep 2004 to Friday 22 Oct 2004. The three radio stations are:

|
A brand new Subaru Impreza WRX is
certainly an enticing reward for that all pain and suffering. So if you think
you are up to the challenge, it's still not too late to try to qualify for the
contest.

the aforementioned radio stations' Web sites.

Good luck! You will need plenty of
it!
