The Drama Classes under Leigh McDonald are
presenting an evening of 4 ultra-hilarious one-act comedies, and A R Gurney's
heart-warming play The Dining Room this weekend. |
|
# 1 -- "Sure Thing". Here two people
meet in a cafe and find their way through a conversational minefield
as an offstage bell interrupts their false starts, gaffes, and faux
pas. Watch the one-liners fly! |
|
#2 -- "The Philadelphia is a Twilight Zone -like
state in which people cannot get anything they want, unless they ask for the
opposite. Imagine being stuck in a restaurant in this zone! Surreal but very
clever! |
# 3 -- The Exchange
A coffee maker, an unhappy customer and an Oprah-enthralled store employee.
When these three strangers dont get along very well, you can be sure at least
one of them will walk away broken and defeated. Who will it be? |
|
#4 -- "Variations on the Death of Trotsky," might
as well be called "The gardener did it" -- because he did. And even with an
axe embedded in his skull, it takes some time for things to (ahem) sink
in...and realise he'd dead.A little bit of Russian History of the Rise of
Communism meets Groundhog Day! |
|
Also staged in the same evening is The Dining
Room - an anthology of short poignant stories by A. R. Gurney revolving
around the dining table. Be moved, be touched and above all, be entertained. |
