That's Jinno!

I learnt that he is putting up at a guest-house, Sandy's Place, in Newton Circus. It is his second in two days. The first, in Bencoolen Street wasn't comfortable. What impresses me is that he is travelling around alone. Now, that takes courage. But, I can't help fearing for his safety - I mean, he's all alone and there's no one to look over his shoulder for him, just in case. I just it's just his spirit of adventure that keeps him at it.

Jinno and I moved around the Orchard Road shopping belt before taking the MRT over to Raffles City, where there was to be a National Day Parade rehearsal in the afternoon. I introduced him to CHIJMES, a well-known historical landmark, where he took a couple of pictures. But alas, the autowinder on his Olympus camera became stuck, and in the process, he exposed part of the film when he opened the cover and tried to manually pry out the stuck film. We managed to find help at a nearby photo shop.

Jinno's next stop is Kuala Lumpur in West Malaysia. And he is still going there solo, too. I admire his sense of adventure. I, for one, can't seem to get myself to do such things. Perhaps, that is why I will always remain in Singapore, where it's safe and sound, albeit a wee bit short of adventure!

There's just one week left before the schools reopen in Singapore. The World Book Fair at Suntec City has been drawing in the crowds, mainly school students and their parents, since 10 Jun 2000 when it opened. It ended yesterday.

I paid a visit and found that there are now more local online tutoring websites around. Websites, such as www.i-tutor.net, www.teachme.com.sg, and www.teol.com.sg, had presentation booths which gave visitors an insight into their online tutorials. All three websites presently cater to the needs of upper primary school students.

The book fair may be over, but you can still visit these websites, together with your child, and check them out.
