With immediate effect, the government will allow all " direct insurers " to enter the local insurance industry. Also, the 49% cap on foreign ownership of local insurers will be lifted, said the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). Asia Taipei: Tension at a high as Taiwan goes to polls. Dalby, Australia: A woman went on trial yesterday, accused of raping a man in what is believed to be the first such case in Australia. A Crown prosecutor told a court here that Zoe Dawes raped the 24-year-old man after he was tied at gunpoint to the verandah railing of a house at Miles, in southeast Queensland and stripped.
