Unscrupulous  estate agents are believed to have teamed up with loansharks to fleece hundreds of flat owners here by offering them big cash upfront even before the properties are sold. But they will later charge exorbitant interest rates of about 20% each month because the "cash upfronts" are actually illegal loans from loansharks.

Satelite pictures have shown a sharp rise in the number of hotspots in Sumatra which has caused the slight haze over Singapore yesterday afternoon.
