Exploring Singapore
1. Take a stroll down Orchard
Road,
the shopping heart of
Singapore.

On the right of Orchard Road, just after Orchard Building
is Orchard Shopping Centre. It's very small and not popular. |

On the right of Orchard Road, you can now see the
entrance to a car park. The Somerset MRT Station's entrance is in
the background.
In the 70's, this place was a
popular open-air hawker centre.

Turn around now. That's the area we just passed.
Now turn back and walk straight
ahead. |
|
|
The next building is Specialist Centre, a shopping centre
where John Little department store is located.
That's Hotel Phoenix towering
behind its podium block - Specialist Centre.

comes into view.
OCBC Bank has a branch here.
|
|
|
Here's a look farther down Orchard Road.
Note that once we pass Centrepoint,
we will hardly find any shoppers along this part of Orchard Road.
