Get for me: Monday with the Editor Hallo everyone. Let me introduce myself. I am the one who gets to speak to you every Monday on this front page. Getforme.com is the new kid on the block. In fact, we are just two days old- we started work on 27 Nov 99. There are many websites, such as ours. But, here, we hope to give you a little personal touch. Most of you are staying or living overseas and may not get a chance to see or hear about happenings over here in Singapore. We will try our best to keep you informed. Well, as for the personal touch bit, if, perhaps, you have a yearning to see what Centrepoint looks like now, tell us. We will get over there, take a picture of it and post it on this page, just for you. By the way, there's no charge whatsover- doing it just makes us feel good. Do give it a try! I went around town with my wife yesterday. We visited Marina Square, Raffles City, Takashimaya Shopping Centre, Tangs and Isetan Orchard. The ground floor of Tangs is undergoing renovation. The cosmetic counters and those selling costume jewellery are undergoing a makeover. Customers have to file past makeshift passages to get to the Marriot side of the store. Over at the other shopping centres, favourite cartoon characters have taken over the stages. They keep the festive crowd entertained. We had a trying time jostling with the crowd. We also visited the new National Library branch at Ngee Ann City in Orchard Road. It's just two floors above the POSBank branch. Most of the crowd there are youngsters. The shelves are supported on hollow steel bars, the type used as scaffolding. There is even a DOME cafe in the library next to the main entrance. Go over to our books section on our homepage. You will find a link to the National Library embedded there. Her World magazine celebrates 39 years in Singapore. They have got thumbnail pictures of every front cover from 1960 -1999 in the back pages of their magazine. I have e-mailed them to get permission to post these pictures here so that we can all relish a bit of the past together. It's been a few days, and I have yet to hear from them. I hope to bring you good news soon. If you have any suggestions, please e-mail me. At getforme.com, we seek ways to improve our website, so please share your thoughts with us. Till next Monday, ta ta.
