Raffles City
Convention Centre on 20 Nov 2007
Vehicles entering
Raffles City will be screened before entry to the basement car park.
Lanes along the following roads will be closed on 20 Nov 07 from
6.00am to 11.00pm to facilitate vehicular screening:
a Stamford Road between
Beach Road and the entrance into Raffles City (The right-most lane).
b Bras Basah Rd between North Bridge Road and the driveway into
Raffles City car park (The right-most lane).
In addition, the
following lane/road will be closed from from 6.00pm to 11.00pm on 20
Nov 2007 :
a North Bridge Road
(between Middle Rd and Stamford Road ) b The right-most lane along
Bras Basah Road (between Bencoolen Street and North Bridge Road )
Traffic congestion is expected at the event venue and its peripheral
roads. The taxi stand in front of RCCC along North Bridge Road will
be closed from 5.00pm to 11.00pm . The taxi stands along Stamford
Road and at Swissotel will remain open. Motorists are advised to
take public transport if they are going to Raffles City .
Asian Civilisations
Museum on 21 Nov 07
During the reception at
the Asian Civilisations Museum roads surrounding the event venue
will be closed from 2.00 pm to 11.00 pm , as part of the security
arrangements. There will be vehicle checks on the closed roads
leading to the Asian Civilisations Museum , and the following roads
will be closed:
a Old Parliament Lane.
b Empress Place.
The following roads will
be closed from 7.00pm to 9.00pm :
a Connaught Drive
(between Fullerton Road and St Andrew’s Road)
b St Andrew’s Road (between Connaught Drive and Stamford Road )
c Stamford Road (between St Andrew’s Road and Armenian Street )
d Fort Canning Tunnel (between Stamford Road and Penang Road )
e Penang Road (between Fort Canning Tunnel and Buyong Road )
f Buyong Road (between Penang Road and Orchard Road )
g Orchard Road (between Buyong Road and Oldham Lane )
During this period, only
Police vehicles, emergency vehicles and vehicles displaying special
labels will be allowed to enter the closed roads. Police officers
will be deployed at the affected road junctions to assist and direct
motorists. Public bus services affected by the road closure will be
diverted from the closed roads.
To help motorists in
planning ahead for their journeys to the city during the affected
period, Traffic Police have mounted advisory signs on lampposts and
placed electronic Variable Message Signs at strategic locations
leading to the event venues.
Parking restriction
along the peripheral roads will be strictly enforced. Unauthorised
parking and vehicles that are found parking indiscriminately and/or
causing obstruction will be towed away. Police officers will be on
patrol in the vicinity of all the event venues and may conduct
selective checks on members of the public and vehicles in or around
the premises.
The above security
measures are necessary in view of the current security climate.
Police would like to assure the public that we would take all
necessary actions to ensure safety and security. We seek the
public’s co-operation and understanding for any inconvenienced
caused.
