Delicately
blending the Old with the New, the NUS Rondalla breathes new life
into early instruments such as the banduria, laud and the
mandolin. The group performs music with a Latin flavour – Cuban,
Mexican and Spanish. To reflect this genre of music, some songs
from the Buena Vista Social Club have been specially re-arranged
for the occasion. Also included will be mambo and cha-cha music to
keep your feet tapping along.
The
Pipers’ Guild@NUS presents music from the Renaissance and
Baroque eras. Performing exuberant and lively music from composers
such as Bach, Handel and Vivaldi, audiences will see period
instruments such as recorders, harpsichord, viola da gamba
(similar to the cello) and archlute (similar to the guitar) being
used. Programme includes a post-show talk on Rondalla.
