About the VEP scheme
The VEP Scheme was introduced in 1973 to regulate the entry of foreign-registered cars into Singapore. This scheme was eventually extended to foreign-registered motorcycles in 1992.
Foreign-registered vehicles are allowed free entry into Singapore from 7.00 pm to 2.00 am the following day on weekdays, and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and Singapore public holidays. The existing VEP fee is S$30 a day for cars and $4 a day for motorcycles.
ERP Scheme for Foreign-registered Cars
Since 1 September 2003, foreign motorists driving their foreign-registered cars into Singapore can opt to pay a fixed ERP fee of S$10 per day, to pass through the ERP gantries and for an unlimited number of times during the ERP operating hours.
The scheme was introduced to provide foreign motorists an alternative hassle-free option to installing or renting IUs in their cars.
