Exploring Singapore

1. Take a stroll down the rest of Stamford Road and take in the sights.

The journey today ends at Bras Basah Road.

On the left of the road is the National Library, soon to be demolished to make way for development of the new Singapore Management University.

The hawker centre in the foreground opens 24 hours.

The National Library comes into full view as we stroll farther down the road.

(This building is no longer around. It was demolished in mid 2004)

This is the side view of the National Library, showing the car park entrance, hidden from the main road by the plants.

This is Waterloo Street on the right of the road. At night, about 100 trishaws start their journey round town from here, taking tourists to places of interest. We are not visiting this street today.

The National Museum, on the left of the road, comes into view once we have walked past the National Library.

Click on the logo below to stroll farther down to Penang Road, which is the back of Orchard Road.
