Exploring
Singapore
1. Take a stroll down
Penang Road, Somerset Road and Orchard Boulevard. These
roads lie on the back of Orchard Road. After
Orchard Boulevard, our tour will move on to Orchard Road, the
shopping heart of Singapore.
|

|
Farther up Penang Road, after the junction, is a row of
buildings on the left.
This row of buildings is part of
the Winsland group. This first building is Winsland I.
In the centre sits an old,
conserved building.

A closer look at the old, conserved building, which is
a colonial mansion built in the mid-1800s.
It is now the home of The
Elephant Pub, which is an English pub with a Victorian bar, an
African safari room and a library lounge. It serves more than 30
varieties of beers, with 8 on the tap.

This is the view of the right side of the road.
You can see Orchard Rd behind the
trees. The buildings are: on the left, Orchard Plaza; and on the
right, Meridien Hotel.

This is the view of the building after The Elephant
Pub, on the left.
It is called Winsland House I. |
|

|
The last building we see here, on the right side of the
road is the Killiney Road Post Office, next to the junction.
SAM,
shown in the photo, is a 24-hour self-service stamp vending
machine. It also lets you weigh your articles.
