Cockpit Hotel becomes history

Cockpit Hotel, in Penang Road, was completed in 1972 by the architect Yang Tai Tye (2). The 12-storey building has 230 guest rooms, a nightclub, offices and restaurants. Luxton Hall was demolished in 1982 to make way for new extensions at the rear to add another 168 guest rooms, plus carparking, a swimming pool, restaurant, recreational facilities and function rooms.(1)

The hotel is now closed and awaiting redevelopment.
