Launch of Shell LiveWIRE
Awards 2007: Inspiring Entrepreneurship in the Young |

At first, there was one, then there were
twenty, and now there are thirty. |
This is neither a counting game nor child¡¯s
play. This is the number of child care centres Mr Sam Yap Soon Guan,
Executive Chairman of Cherie Hearts Child Development and winner of the
Shell LiveWIRE Young Business Start-Up Awards 2005 has today. |
¡°Winning the Shell LiveWIRE Award has raised
my company¡¯s profile significantly. Investors as far as Australia and
China approached me for business ventures and, since then, I have closed
many promising joint venture deals,¡± shares Mr Yap. Today, Cherie Hearts
has over 30 child care centres in Singapore, Vietnam and Australia. |

Jointly organised by Shell Companies in
Singapore, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), the ITE Alumni
Association and the Singapore Press Holdings Chinese Newspapers
Division, the prestigious Shell LiveWIRE Awards 2007 aims to groom,
recognise and reward promising young entrepreneurs and promote the
spirit of enterprise. |
The Awards salute promising entrepreneurs
whose business exemplifies savvy positioning in the market place, growth
potential and future sustainability. |
Since its launch in 2001, the Awards has
honoured 28 budding entrepreneurs from various fields, including
education, construction, recruitment services and fashion design. |
To qualify for the Awards, applicants should
be 35 years or below and have been in business from three to 36 months.
The Top Award is $10,000. There will also be four Merit Awards of $2,000
each. The Closing Date of the Awards is 31 July 2007. |
About the Shell LiveWIRE Programme |
Shell LiveWIRE programme is an
international programme which aims to promote the spirit of
enterprise to young people, by providing support and guidance to
them in starting their own businesses. The programme is now
running in more than 20 countries. |
Objective of the Awards |
To recognise and reward aspiring young
men and women who are successful in their business start-ups. |
Entry Criteria |
Applicants must be:

35 years and below (for at least one key executive partner)
