W!ld Rice Theatre Company is a Singaporean professional theatre company
founded by Ivan Heng. The company takes its inspiration from the
multicultural societies that make up modern Asia, celebrating their
diverse cultures and performance styles and bringing them together in
creative collaborations that inspire, challenge and entertain. It aims
to be a dynamic platform for the Singaporean and Asian voice in theatre.

Project
Chili Padi, W!ILD RICE’s Education and Outreach division
is looking for fun-loving and energetic actor -
facilitators to join us in our education based outreach
programmes.

We
are looking for: |
1)
A Caucasian / Eurasian male. (Portray 30 – 45 years of
age) |
2)
A male/female actor who is native of any of the following
countries - any of the Caribbean or Polynesian Islands,
Sri Lanka, Japan, Holland, Spain or Africa - and is able
to speak English with his/her native accent. (Portray 25
– 40 years of age) and |
3)
A male/female Singaporean Malay, Chinese or Indian.
(Portray 18 – 27 years of age). |
Actors who are cast MUST be available in March - June 2004,
which is the scheduled performance month. Rehearsals will
be scheduled in February 2004 and continue through
March 2003. |
Audition
is from 10am to 3pm, on Wednesday, the28th
January, 2004 at W!ld Rice Office (27 Kerbau Rd, Singapore

About
the Production
For the first time,
The Midsummer Night’s Dream will be staged at the Singapore
Botanic Gardens. Directed
by Ivan Heng, this new and exciting staging of the play as
an outdoor event will be produced by W!LD RICE for performances in
June 2003.
Rehearsal
Information
Actors
who are cast MUST be available to attend a pre-production workshop
in March 2003.
Rehearsals
will be scheduled to begin in Mid April 2003 and continue through
May 2003.
About
the Auditions
Auditions
require that you memorize ONE monologue from the play.
The
qualities we will be looking for in particular include:
versatility, comic ability, confident physicality, evidence of
textual understanding and a professional attitude. Performances
will take place in an outdoor setting with a large audience, so
good diction and voice projection will be required.
Auditions
will be held on Thursday, 23 January 2003, Friday, 24 January and
Monday, 27 January 2003 from 5.30pm till 10pm.
