W!LD RICE presents Animal Farm 2003

Source: W!LD RICE

W!LD RICE’s award winning sensational stage adaptation of George Orwell’s masterpiece, Animal Farm, captured the public’s imagination and had audiences fighting and fainting over tickets when it premiered last year.

Internationally acclaimed, multi-talented theatre practitioner Ivan Heng will join the “prized herd” of local actors – Lim Yu-Beng, Pam Oei, Selena Tan, Karen Tan, Gene Sha Rudyn and Michael Corbidge – in this revised and revitalised production that reflects the world we live in today.

Philip Tan, who led the 55,000-strong crowd at this year’s National Day Parade, will once again be performing his highly original music, for which he was awarded an Honourable Mention in the 2002 DBS Life! Awards.

Vital, sexy and wickedly funny, Animal Farm will have you squealing for more!

Synopsis:

“All animals are equal. But some animals are more equal than others."

The animals of Manor Farm overthrow the farmer Mr Jones (Michael Corbidge) and, with the pigs as leaders, create a new state for themselves, Animal Farm. A set of commandments is written as a guide for animal life. However, cunning propaganda hides the truth of what the pigs are really up to in the farmhouse as the ideals of the revolution gradually degenerate.

This hugely popular work of political fiction was written as the world tumbled into the Cold War. Wary of the totalitarian tendencies of imperfect human beings, Orwell saw the trust of ordinary people betrayed by the hidden agendas of politicians, bureaucrats and intellectuals.

Once again, W!LD RICE dedicates Animal Farm to exposing the hidden agendas of our times.
