Singapore to explore divestment of Senoko Incineration Plant

Singapore to Explore Divestment of Senoko Incineration Plant

The Singapore Government will be issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) on 25 January 2008 to divest the Senoko Incineration Plant (SIP) via a newly listed infrastructure business trust/fund or to an existing listed infrastructure business trust/fund.
As part of the exercise, the Singapore Government will appoint a suitably qualified fund manager and operator to manage the infrastructure trust/fund and operate SIP respectively and procure incineration services from the infrastructure trust/fund.
The key objectives of this divestment exercise are to encourage competition and further improve efficiency in the waste management sector through greater private sector involvement and also to create investment opportunities for the public to invest in the infrastructure sector.
The entire RFP will be divided into a number of stages and the deadline for this Stage 1 tender submission will be 4p.m. on 11 February 2008. Successful short-listed parties from Stage 1 will be invited to participate in subsequent stages.
