dish, amongst many other local food delights, in a variety of culinary
interpretations including Creamy Cheese Crab, Salted and Deep-fried

¡°The Singapore Chilli Crab is a
made-in-Singapore dish that is not only popular with Singaporeans but
also enjoys a strong following amongst many of our visitors. Hearty and
tasty, it is becoming recognised internationally as a Uniquely Singapore
dish, being featured at events such as the Singapore Season in London in
2005, Singapore Day in New York's Central Park in April this year and at
the annual Singapore Tiger Beer Chilli Crab Festival in Brooklyn. We
hope visitors will discover the Singapore Chilli Crab and other delights
of our colourful and distinctive food heritage at the Singapore Food
Festival this year," said Mr Andrew Phua, Director of Cluster
Development, Tourism Shopping and Dining, at the Singapore Tourism

where visitors redeem a complimentary serving of this dish at
participating restaurants simply by presenting Chilli Crab Chase!
vouchers obtained from Singapore Visitor Centres. |
He added, ¡°In the visitor surveys conducted
last year at main Festival events, we have received very positive
response from those who sampled the dish. Over 30 per cent of visitor
respondents indicated Singapore Chilli Crab and Black Pepper Crab as
their favourite dish. Hainanese Chicken Rice and Satay were their next
favourite dishes.¡± |
This year, 300 lucky crab lovers will get to
savour their favourite chilli crab dish that is perfectly paired with
the smooth, full-bodied taste of world acclaimed Tiger Beer for free. |

tickets will be given out at Ngee Ann City¡¯s Civic Plaza on both
29 and 30 June from 4pm onwards. |
¡°As co-organisers of this year¡¯s festival,
we thought that juxtaposing hungry dinners, succulent chilli crabs
against the chic and fashionable weekend crowd of Orchard Road on a
Saturday would say it, like never before, Singaporeans¡¯ deeply-rooted
love for this sweet yet fiery delicacy which has, to an extent, evolved
into our food icon,¡± said Ms Michelle Lim, General Manager, Reed
