UNIFive is formed with the objective of
promoting performing arts in the local arts scene and with the passion
of playing in a piano ensemble. |
As piano ensemble is an unusual item in a
concert, UNIFive hopes to promote the awareness of such an ensemble as
well as the art of ensemble playing. |
This is the second recital by UNIFive after
their successful debut in 2005. They were also invited to perform at the
Yamaha's Grand Piano Fair last year. |
The pieces, which will be performed during
the concert, are popular classical orchestral pieces, which were
transcribed for the five piano ensemble, such as Rimsky-Korsakov's
Flight of the Bumble Bee, Emmanuel Chabrier's Espana, to name a few. |
Also, this concert features some of the
transcription by the members of UNIFive, such as Alex Lo's transcription
of Offenbach's Can Can Dance, Strauss's Die Fledermaus Overture;
Angelies Earlnus's transcription of Schubert's Gretchen am Spinnrade,
Smetana's Die Moldau. |
