Art Competition ¨C New Bridge
at MarinaBay
Fact Sheet
Singapore youths will have the
opportunity to leave their creative imprint on Singapore¡¯s latest
urban icon and landmark bridge.
¡¡
The Urban Redevelopment Authority is
searching for passionate youths to submit proposals for artwork to
be incorporated into the design of the flooring, railings, shade
canopies & seating along the pedestrian connection of the new
bridge. These will help to create a unique crossing experience &
create a distinctive new icon for Singapore.
¡¡
Competition Brief
The selected youths will work with
recognised local artists to develop and translate their artwork into
a medium that can be integrated into the design of the bridge.
¡¡
We are inviting students, to submit
proposal for artwork based on the theme
of :-
Aspirations for Life in Singapore
¡¡
Artwork
¡¡
There is no restriction on the medium of
the artwork.
¡¡
The artwork may be in two or three
dimensional form (e.g. painting or sculpture) or literary works
(e.g. poem). Entrants are to take into consideration the
requirement for the artwork (if selected by the panel of judges) to
be incorporated into the design of the flooring, railings, shade
canopies and seating along the pedestrian connection of the new
bridge.

Entrants may participate as an
individual or in groups of up to 5 students.
¡¡
Eligibility
¡¡
All students who are Singapore Citizens
or Permanent Residents are invited to participate.
Submissions will be
evaluated according to the following categories :
- Primary student;
- Secondary student; and
- Tertiary student.
Submission of Entries
The size of the submission is not to
exceed A1 (841 x 594mm). Scale models of sculptures are acceptable.

Each submission is to include a write-up
of maximum 150 words on A4 sized paper at font size 12 to explain
the concept.
¡¡
A maximum of three submissions per
entrant is allowed.
¡¡
The closing date and time for submission
is 1.00pm on 31 March 2006. Entries received after 1.00pm on 31
March 2006 will not be accepted.

Translation of Artwork onto the
Bridge
¡¡
URA intends to select up to 8 entrants
to develop their artwork for incorporation into the design of the
bridge.
¡¡
Successful entrants will be required to
work with a team comprising an experienced local artist, an art
advisor and the Consultant Team implementing the bridge to develop
their artwork from April ¨C Jun 2006.
