I Theatre presents The Secret of Laughter

Source: www.itheatre.org

7 Mar - 19 Mar 2006

¡¡
I Theatre is presenting The Secret of Laughter at the AGF Theatre, Alliance Française from 7 - 19 Mar 2006.
The Secret of Laughter is directed by Brian Seward. It features Candice de Rozario, Adelynn Tan, Elnie Mashari and Charlotte Chiew
Going all the way back to the dawn of storytelling, The Secret of Laughter is a fascinating, funny, physical exploration of the way we sometimes find wonderful things when we least expect.
Inspired by the VERY FIRST folk tale ever recorded, and interweaving folk tales from India, Persia, and others, we use a madcap mixture of mime, physical theatre and live music ¨C colourful costumes and maybe just a little puppetry to tell the story of The Three Princes of Serendip, and how they went on a quest for one thing, and on the way found another ¨C even better than the first.
The original story inspired the creation of a brand new word in the English dictionary ¨C ¡°Serendipity¡± which means ¡°A happy accident¡±, or ¡°an unlooked for discovery¡±.
There will be very little dialogue ¨C we let the actions speak for themselves; and the story works on a number of levels. For the younger ones it will be colourful, fast paced and fun.
If you are older, there will be some searching questions to think about; a challenge to your creativity and an encouragement for you too to think outside the box, and spot those ¡°happy accidents¡± when they happen to you.
Maybe you will discover for yourself, your very own ¡°Secret of Laughter¡±.
Don¡¯t miss what promises to a fascinating and fun show for all ages.
Bringing together all of our experience in creating children¡¯s and family theatre, we believe that this will be one of the best and most exciting productions we have created so far.
The Three Princes of Serendip was published in Venice in 1557 by Michele Tramezzino, the compiler of the various tales of ancient origin. It is said to be the first folk tale ever recorded on paper.
