Singapore
drivers can now go online on the Internet to find out whether they have any
outstanding traffic offences to their names. All they need do is to key in
their NRIC number and date of birth and the results will be displayed on the
screen.

Also car owners
can check whether their car has outstanding traffic offences against it. The
search can also be done for foreign-registered vehicles. Simply key in the car
registration plate number and the results are revealed.

Since 7 Jun
2004, these new
transactions have been included in the Electronic Police Centre Web page which
also provides the following searches online:

- status of
driving licence
|
- certificate
of merit (COM)
|
- status of
driver improvement points (DIPS)
|
- photocard
driving licence delivery status
|
- request for
photocard driving licence application form
|
- booking of
Basic Theory of Driving Test
|
The service is
free. No fees are levied for the searches.
