The Land Transport Authority (LTA)
announces a major revamp of its Motoring Internet Portal One.motoring.
|
The portal will be enhanced to
provide motorists, car enthusiasts and road users with exciting new services
and information.
|
The One.motoring portal (onemotoring.com.sg),
first launched in October 2000, provides motorists with vehicle information,
statistics and services offered by the LTA. It attracts about one million
page-views and 300,000 on-line transactions and enquiries per month.
|
Another portal, also from the LTA,
Traffic.Smart (traffic.smart.lta.gov.sg)
launched in May 2000, offers real-time information on traffic and road
conditions. It attracts about one million page-views per month.
|
The new portal, to be ready in mid
2004, will integrate One.motoring and Traffic.Smart into a single, unified
portal. This will be the largest one-stop online site for all matters
pertaining to motoring and road transport.
|
In addition to regular LTA services such as the
renewal of road tax and information on traffic condition, the revamped
One.motoring site will offer new services to cater to the needs of all road
users, not just the motoring public.
|
The new site will place strong
emphasis on user friendliness and ease of navigation. The new look will enable
the user to access the services he requires quickly and conveniently.
Multi-channel access to the portal, such as via SMS will be provided where
appropriate.
|
Local internet company Green Dot
Internet Services (GDIS) Pte Ltd, has been awarded the project to develop,
host, operate and market the new One.motoring portal for the next five years.
GDIS will carry out the day-to-day operations of the portal such as hosting,
security and application maintenance, and the operation of the gateway for
on-line payments.
|
Says Dr Francis Yeoh, CEO of GDIS,
"GDIS has built and managed 2 major portals with large user communities,
the NSmen's portal called MIW and the location-based information portal called
CAN.COM.SG. We will be able to draw on our experience with MIW and CAN to
ensure that One.motoring best meet the needs of road users. By enriching the
portal with innovative new services as well as new ways to deliver them, GDIS
aims to make One.motoring the pre-eminent site for all things related to road
use. "
