ECNAD is presenting a doublebill of contemporary dance at the Art House in November 2004.

Spy & Ego - Sleek, Sensual, Intimate

Title: Spy

Tagline: Peep Here

Synopsis:

Do you dance in front of the mirror at home? Sing in the bathroom? SPY looks into the heart and soul of urban living, longing and desire played out on designer furniture. In rooms within a room, domestic life unfolds. Voyeurs, exhibitionists and wannabes are welcome.

Date & Time:

8pm.  18-21, 25- 27 Nov 2004. Video installation exhibition during building opening hours.

Venue: Gallery, the Arts House at Old Parliament

Background:

The inspiration for this work comes from the director’s personal experiences and observations about urban living. Chin notes, “To blend into society, we need to adapt ourselves, so we learn to hide emotions. Basic psychological needs are not being fulfilled, despite our material wealth. We may share a house with other people, but not our lives. Everyone goes about their daily tasks separately, communicating little of what really matters to us. People chat on the internet and phone to seek company and love.”

“There are certain aspects of ourselves that we feel comfortable revealing
only in our own home,” says Sam, his artistic collaborator. Chin adds, “People might feel lonely, but they are not alone.”
