Inspiring Artistes: Lieder, Arias & Operettas by Soprano Cornelia Zach (Austria)

Source: The Centre for the Arts, NUS

The Centre for the Arts (CFA) is pleased to present Inspiring Artistes: Lieder, Arias and Operettas by Soprano Cornelia Zach (Austria) at the University Cultural Centre (UCC) on 29 November 2003 at 8pm.

Performing for the first time in Asia and Singapore, Austrian soprano Cornelia Zach will display her powerful and yet sensitive vocals in an intimate concert featuring a heady mix of arias from Pucciniís La Boheme, Gounodís Faust, to German romantic highlights, Spanish songs and Broadway classics. She will be accompanied by Bettina Rohrbeck on the piano.

The concert will also feature well-known local actress Tan Kheng Hua bringing alive the stories behind the songs through narrations, adding a special touch to the evening's exciting repertoire.

Ms Zach will also be singing two popular duets with an aspiring young soprano Zheng Yue. In a later part of the concert, Zheng Yue and Rocky Wang, both vocal students from LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts, will sing David Foster and Carole B. Sagerís The Prayer.

Ms Zach performs frequently with the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Komische Oper Berlin. Her most recent appearance was in February 2003 with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. As a rising opera performer, CFA will showcase her immense talent at the University Cultural Centre Theatre to a limited audience capacity.

Tickets at S$12, S$15 & S$20 (includes 1 glass of wine) are available at SISTIC. Call (65) 6348 5555 or visit Price excludes S$1 SISTIC fee.
