Beyond Therapy - a comedy by Tabby Cat Theatre & I Theatre

Source: Tabby Cat Theatre

First performed on and off Broadway in 1981 and 1982 and featuring performers such as Sigourney Weaver, John Lithgow, Diane Wiest and Stephen Collins in the lead roles, BEYOND THERAPY has charmed audiences the world over for over two decades.

And now, a special collaboration between I Theatre and newly formed company, Tabby Cat Theatre, will bring this Christopher Durang masterpiece to Singaporean audiences for the first time in October 2003.

What happens when two mismatched people each rely on professional therapists to find the ideal fulfilling relationship in a neurotic world?

Yet what they don't realise is that their therapists are themselves in need of therapy?

A truly romantic yet quirky comedy of insane proportions about a personal ad, two psycho- therapists, their patients and a Snoopy Doll --- because sometimes people do need to bungle their way through life without knowing what the hell they're doing - for a while.

This is great theatre not to be missed! You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll empathise while doing both. We think you'll enjoy it.

Synopsis

Prudence and Bruce are deeply "into" therapy hoping to learn the magic of lasting relationships. Bruce meets Prudence through a personal ad (suggested by his therapist) but their first date is a disaster. His wacky therapist then suggests another ad with a revised personal description. Again, Prudence answers the call. A hilarious story of two therapists trying to pursue their own needs at the expense of the most mismatched couple ever to meet through a personal ad.
